It is amazing that the economy is now growing enough to provide new homes especially in the Yorkshire area but we can’t be ignorant to the fact that this will of course put pressure of local schools to take on extra students.

This is causing the School Governing Bodies to think of ways to increase their School size to comfortably accomodate extra students, this could be building extensions and annex buildings, amending the current School layout and building a new School altogether.

Of course the School extensions and developments are not the only thing KRM can look after, it is imperative that the safety of the staff and students is never compromised and the gas appliances are annually serviced.

Honeywell are one of the leading suppliers of domestic heating and combustion controls in the UK with products that include time, temperature, gas and water controls.

In 2009 Honeywell released a news article stating that all Schools and nursery schools should ensure children and staff cannot be scalded by hot water by fitting fail-safe thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) on hot water outlets, says Honeywell, the leading manufacturer of water valves and heating controls.

TMVs are fitted in the hot and cold supplies to baths, showers and hand basins, to ensure a constant safe temperature at the point of delivery. Regulations demand them on baths and showers, but they should also be fitted to hand basins, advises Honeywell. The scale-resistant Honeywell TM300 is designed for installation on both high and low pressure systems, and certified to the Buildcert TMV2 scheme. It is therefore acceptable in all schools and nurseries except those used by the severely disabled; these require a valve such as the Honeywell TM200VP, rated to the higher TMV3 standard.

These valves also need regular servicing, to book a service visit please contact the KRM Office.

Below are a few case studies of other works we have done at various educational sites;

Long Preston Primary School – Working together with Pearce Bottomley Architects and  the School Governing Body we were lucky enough to win the bid for the central heating works that needed replacing and upgrading at the School.

KRM replaced the existing Oil Fired Commercial boilers that had become to be inefficient and costly and replaced with a new Oil Fired Potterton Boiler along with upgrading the associated pipework.

As the School were so keen to keep the heritage of the building we refurbished the existing cast iron radiators instead of replacing them, shot blasted then repainted them and fit them back in situ to keep the decor and ambience of the structure.

Craven College, Skipton – Craven College were having issues with the existing boiler in the Deli kitchen, this was replaced with a Worcester Bosch System Boiler to ensure they were never without hot water, this has improved efficiency and given piece of mind to the college providing a full 7 years manufacturers warranty.

We also carry out the servicing at both private and comprehensive schools so please visit the Contact Us Page for a bespoke price for servicing, upgrades or replacements.
